City tour in Trinidad, the province of Santi Spiritus, is one of the main tourist attractions on the island, because of its unspoiled colonial character and the old Spanish architecture. The old city is declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Trinidad was founded by the Spanish conqueror Diego Velazquez in 1514 and became a Cuban trading center by the end of the 17th century. The wealth attracted numerous Pirates. During the eighteenth century the sugar trade boom made Trinidad a wealthy town and attracted many immigrants. Thousands of African slaves were imported to work in the sugar industry. A long period of isolation has preserved this unique colonial town in Cuba.
Our tour include visits to The Romantic/Cantero Museum, which depicts the lifestyle and architectural design of Trinidad’s colonial past and La Canchanchara, an old house dating back to the 18th Century, where we can taste a unique Trinidad rum cocktail, made with sugar cane juice. Continue to Santa Clara the final resting place of “Che” Guevara, the mausoleum and museum dedicated to his extraordinary life Following this there will be a short orientation tour of the city including the armoured train that was attacked in the decisive moments of the Cuban Revolution.
