Switzerland

Switzerland is one of the most beautiful places in the world – home to shimmering lakes, picturesque ranges like the Alps, vast green pastures and quaint medieval towns.

Switzerland, officially the Swiss Confederation, is a country situated in the confluence of Western, Central, and Southern Europe. It is a federal republic composed of 26 cantons, with federal authorities seated in Bern. Switzerland is a landlocked country bordered by Italy to the south, France to the west, Germany to the north, and Austria and Liechtenstein to the east.

It is geographically divided among the Swiss Plateau, the Alps, and the Jura, while the Alps occupy the greater part of the territory.

The Jungfraujoch

The Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe at 3,454 meters above sea level brings together in one place what fascinates people about the Alps: a majestic backdrop of ice, snow and rock with breathtaking views. Reserve your seat for the Jungfrau Railway journey Jungfraujoch and Hotel Silberhorn  is an alpine attraction and viewing point, at an altitude of 3454 m. It is located in between the well-known mountains Monch and Jungfrau, in the heart of the UNESCO Natural World Heritage property “Jungfrau – Aletsch – Bietschhorn”. The cogwheel train is the only way to get there.

Mount Titlis

It is a spectacular journey to the impressive glacier world on TITLIS. Come visit the year-round winter wonderland. Mount TITLIS is the only publicly accessible glacier in the area.

The monastery village of Engelberg is no more than a 45-minute ride by car or public transport from Lucerne. From there, the 8-seater Titlis Xpress gondola cableway takes you straight to the Stand terminus, with the option of boarding or alighting at Trub along the way. You then change to the TitlisRotair, the aerial cableway featuring the world’s first rotating cable cars. Mt. Titlis lives up to its hype as one of Switzerland’s top destinations. TITLIS Rotair is the world’s first revolving cable car. First ascended in 1739, Mount Titlis lies to the south of Lake Lucerne and is often visited as an alternative to the Jungfrau. It is the highest peak in Switzerland’s Uri Alps north of the Susten Pass, rising to 3,238 metres above sea level.

Lucerne

Lucerne is a city in central Switzerland, in the German-speaking portion of the country. Lucerne is the capital of the canton of Lucerne and part of the district of the same name. Lucerne is the most populous town in Central Switzerland, and a nexus of economics, transportation, culture, and media in the region. Lucerne is an ancient town with strikingly modern sensibilities. One of Europe’s oldest covered bridges serves as its centrepiece, and fresco-adorned historic houses line the streets, but it’s also home to the cutting-edge KKL, a concert hall and art gallery. Take the cableways up the Pilatus, Stanserhorn or Rigi mountains for breathtaking views, or see Lake Lucerne on a steamship cruise.

The Lion Monument

The Lion Monument of Lucerne, is a rock relief in Lucerne, Switzerland, designed by Bertel Thorvaldsen and hewn in 1820–21 by Lukas Ahorn. It commemorates the Swiss Guards who were massacred in 1792 during the French Revolution, when revolutionaries stormed the Tuileries Palace in Paris.

The Kapellbrucke Bridge

The Kapellbrucke is a covered wooden footbridge spanning the river Reuss diagonally in the city of Lucerne in central Switzerland. Named after the nearby St. Peter’s Chapel, the bridge is unique in containing a number of interior paintings dating back to the 17th century, although many of them were destroyed along with a larger part of the centuries-old bridge in a 1993 fire.
