The present Royal Palace in Madrid was built on the location of an old Moorish Fortress built in 9th century by the Arab people who occupied Spain during the Middle Ages. This location was very important because of great strategic importance for the defense of the old Arab Citadel. After the Moors were expelled, in 15th century it became the seat of the Royal Court. In 1734 this structure was burned down for erecting a new palace , the construction started in 1738 and completed in 1764 and the this palace is known today as the Royal Palace of Madrid. The Royal Palace of Madrid is the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family. It’s the most beautiful Baroque style Palace, also has neoclassical elements with abundant artwork. This palace is one of the largest palaces in Europe, with more than 3400 rooms, and there are countless numbers of art in the interiors. There are banquet rooms, the throne rooms, residential areas, Royal Armory and Royal Pharmacy etc. Outside the palace, there is a vast courtyard behind elegant iron fencing. The side of the courtyard is with stunning views across of the countryside beyond with many beautiful gardens.
