Full day on this train in this section of the trip passing prosperous Krasnoyarsk after which the scenery is particularly pleasant consisting of gently rolling hills and dense forests of larch, pine and birch trees. There are many rivers. Siberia extends from the Ural Mountains to the Far East, Arctic Ocean to Kazakhstan and the border of Mongolia. With an area of 13.1 million km2, Siberia is 77% of Russia but it is home to just 40 million people making it one of the most sparsely populated region on Earth.
