MOSCOW

Originally established in 1147 as a minor town, Moscow grew to becaome a prosperous and powerful city that served as the capital of the Grand Duchy that bears its namesake. When the Grand Duchy of Moscow evolved into the Tsardom of Russia, Moscow still remained as the political and economic center for most of the Tsardom’s history. When the Tsardom was reformed into the Russian Empire, the capital was moved from Moscow to Saint Petersburg, diminishing the influence of the city. The capital was then moved back to Moscow following the Russian Revolution and the city was brought back as the political center of the Soviet Russia and the USSR. When the USSR dissolved, Moscow remained as the capital city of the contemporary and newly established Russian Federation. As the cultural center of Russian, Moscow served as the home of Russian artists, scientists and sports figures due to the presence of its numerous museums, academic and political institutions and theatres. The city UNESCO world Heritage, and is well known for its display of Russian architecture.

Red Square

Red Square is undoubtedly one of Moscow’s – and Russia’s –most iconic landmarks. Every day, thousands flock to see its most famous sites – Lenin’s mausoleum, St. Basil’s Cathedral, the Kremlin Walls, and so on. Soviet rulers chose Red Square for their military parades, Victory Day, etc. Now a days Red Square is closed to traffic, tourists are allowed in, the Kremlin towers and St. Basil’s Domes are illuminated by floodlights and set against the night sky, create a spectacular panorama.

St. Basil’s Cathedral

Originally constructed in the mid-16th century, Saint Basil’s Cathedral looms majestically near the Kremlin in Moscow, Russia, and has stood watch over countless historical and political events in the country’s history.

The first Tsar of Russia, Ivan Vasilyevich—also known as Ivan Grozny  Ivan IV, and the Grand Prince of Moscow—ordered the construction of the cathedral in 1554. Ivan, grandson of Ivan the Great, saw the cathedral’s completion in 1561.

Moscow metro is a legend and Moscow metro stations are among the most beautiful in the world.

While for millions of locals it is just their everyday routine on the way to work or school and  tourists visiting Moscow metro is a treat and one of the highlights of the fascinating capital of Russia.

Each of the stations was different, some of them were just random and with nothing special while others were rich in details and ornaments, and it’s so spectacular.
