The second largest wildlife sanctuary in Kerala, Muthanga consists of tropical moist dry deciduous, evergreen forests, bamboo thickets and plantations, and is home to many varieties of birds and animals. The Sanctuary has a large population of pachyderms andhas been declared a Project Elephant site. Elephants roam freely here and tigers are sighted occasionally as well. Various species of deer, monkeys and birds also live here. A drive along the road to Muthanga and further offers chances to watch these roaming animals.
KOZIKODE
Formerly known as Calicut, Kozhikode is located in Kerala. It was the Capital of Malabar many centuries ago, famous for its centuries-old trade in cotton and spices with Jews, Arabs, Phoenicians and Chinese. Kozikode is situated on the serene Arabian Sea on the west and the peaks of the Wayanad hills on the east. Vasco da Gama had set his foot on the remote beach of Kappad in Kozhikode in 1498 and ‘Discovered India’ and established spice trade routes with the west.
KOTHAMANGALAM
Kothamangalam is 80 km from Munnar, the town is in the foothills of the Western Ghats mountain ranges. .BhoothathanKettu is a good picnic spot, 10 km from Kothamangalam. My brother is settled here, inTrikkariyoor, not far from the city. We met after a long time, there was a get together with family and relatives.
