There is a 60 Meter tall tower in Barcelona, crowned with a bronze statue of Christopher Columbus constructed in 1888 on the occasion of the “Exposicion Universal de Barcelona” dedicated to honor and remembrance of Columbus for his first voyage to the New World. Columbus Statue looks elegantly standing on the top of the column and pointing out to the sea with his right hand, showing the New Continent from where he just returned in 1493. The monument is constructed at this particular site where he arrived after his discovery of the New World the year before, and the place where Christopher Columbus reported to Queen Isabella and Ferdinand after return of Columbus most famous trip.
