We took a flight from Montreal airport to Calgary, and by a bus journey of 4 hrs. to reach Banff National Park . Banff National Park is one of Canada’s great national treasures, attracting millions of visitors every year. Encompassing a portion of the Rocky Mountains, the park is home to beautiful lakes mirroring the snow-covered peaks, along with glaciers and forests. Since 1985, it has been included in UNESCO’s list of protected natural and cultural monuments. Banff is a picture-perfect mountain town and village, abundant wildlife and scenic drives come together in Canada’s first national park and the flagship of the nation’s park system. Canada’s first national park and the world’s third, it has a rich heritage as one of the world’s most awe-inspiring mountain destinations. The park spans 6,641 square kilometres (2,564 square miles) of mountainous terrain, packed with spectacularly scenic valleys, peaks, glaciers, forests, meadows and rivers. The bustling town of Banff and hamlet of Lake Louise are uniquely located in the National Park. You feel truly immersed in the mountains and close to nature when you visit Banff & Lake Louise.
First we visited Minnewanka “Water of the Spirits” a glacial lake at the foot of the Rockies. We visited the stunning Lake Louise and saw the magnificent lake with Victoria Glacier at the background. Returned to Banff and had a ride in the famous Banff Gondola to the summit of Sulphur-Mountain. The views become increasingly spectacular as we climb to an elevation of 7500 ft.
