Jodhpur city was founded by a Rajput chief known as RaoJodha. RaoJodha was from the clan of Rathore dynasty. Jodhpur was the former capital of Marwar, one of the most delightful cities of Rajasthan. The city is famous as Blue City as all walls and houses are coloured blue and an aerial view is amazing, and over and above the mighty Mehrangarh Fort overlooking the city. UmaidBhawan Palace is the top attractions in Jodhpur. Jodhpur is conveniently located in the centre of Rajasthan making it easier for people visiting Jodhpur to explore other destinations of the state.
Jodhpur was located on the very famous silk trade route which connected India and the various parts of Central Asia. Jodhpur was always a land of the rich, defined by the endless richness and the royal grandeur of the people residing there. Jodhpur became the largest amongst the Rajputs with respect to its land area. Jodhpur was under the Britishers Rule till India independance. The Marwaris, who were the merchants, were given a significant position in the trade across the entire nation. However, after India gained independence after 1947, the then state of Jodhpur was merged into the Union of India and instead became the second city of Rajasthan.
