Bogota, Capital of Columbia
Bogota, is located in the center of the country in the eastern part of the Andes mountains. The capital city is situated at an elevation of 2,600 m (8,530 ft.).Bogota was originally called “Bacata” means planted fields, and it was founded by the Spanish in 1538 on the site of a pre-Columbian center. Bagota is Colombia’s main economic and industrial center.
We proceeded for a guided city tour of Bagota visited La Candelaria, a historic neighborhood in downtown. La Candelaria is Bogota’s vibrant heart, with landmarks like the colonial-era cathedral and neoclassical Capitol flanking Bolivar Plaza. Narrow streets lined with shops selling all types of goods. The architecture of the old house, churches and buildings have Spanish Colonial and Baroque styles. It houses several universities, libraries and museums. Walked across the main square ‘Simon Bolivar’ and along the Government buildings and arrived at Cathedral Primada.

We visited a beautiful flower market which sells all types of flowers. Walk across the main square Simon Bolívar and along the governments buildings. Take a look into the Cathedral Primada.
Then, we visit the Simon Bolivar house. After New York, Bogotá is the second city with the most interesting Graffiti in the world. Start from the main square Plaza de Bolívar and be impressed by the history of graffiti in Bogotá. A colourful, original culture sustained by passion and creativity. Some of the city’s best street art.
After the visit to the famous Gold Museum which houses the world’s largest collection of pre-Hispanic gold art, transfer to the entrance of Monserrate Mountain. Monserrate, at 3.048 m (10.000 ft), looks down on smoggy, traffic-clogged Bogota. Accessed by funicular or cable car, it is a separate world. The air is clean; the expansive view over Bogotá is wonderful.
