It’s a day long journey to Puno about 400 km by bus. Puno is situated on the shores of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. The incredible views of the land, mountains, and high lands, interspersed with small villages and the majestic back drop of Andes were amazingly enjoyable. Herds of Alpaca and Llamas grazing on the highland pampas are so beautiful; we stopped the bus and had photos with them. The bus tour is a fantastic way to make the journey from Cusco to Puno while taking in the spectacular Andean scenery and pre-Inca and Inca sites. Puno is 3872 M above sea level and therefore it is more than the scenery taking your breath away. At this height those who have not acclimatized, might feel altitude sickness. Once your body gets used to the altitude, symptoms tend to go.
The high elevation also means that it can be cold , so remember to wear warm clothing.
